First Day of Fall Lunch

Saturday was the first day of fall.  I packed up picnic lunches and we went to ride bikes on the Lower Rails-to-Trails path.  It was a beautiful fall day, lots of yellow leaves drifting in the river and floating down from the trees.  We all love biking on the flat trail, its really fun now that Jeffrey is riding without training wheels.

Jeffrey's lunch is peanut butter acorn and oak leaves, Meredith has peanut butter pumpkins, both kids have cheese pumpkins and mellowcream pumpkins for dessert.  We all shared apple slices (Mike had a 'normal' ham sandwich).

Gwen's lunch is Wegmans delux nut mix, salami slices and aged cheddar, yum!

Buttermilk Blueberry Breakfast Cake

Today I had a little more free time so I baked.  So nice and quiet and easy to bake alone. I made this cake because I had purchased some fresh wild blueberries from Wegmans and needed to use them up, they had been lost in the fridge!  I saw this recipe posted and it was described as 'the best coffee-cake type thing I have ever had' (by Posy Gets Cozy) and when I saw the ingredients were my favorite things I had to make it!  (Wild blueberries, Lemon and Buttermilk are my favs)

Here's my plate of yumminess, and my new coffee mug, vintage corningware, I love it.

Gwen's Eats!

I made some great oatmeal the other day - it was a chilly morning, lows in the upper 30's overnight!  So a perfect morning for oatmeal.  My add-ins were; brown sugar, toasted almond slices, and coconut - so good!

And here's a 'snacky' lunch I packed for myself in my new 'lunchbots quad' box.  This new lunchbox is so much fun!  I always like to have a few different things to eat for lunch.
Lunchbot with red grapes, salami and swiss rolled together, trisuit thin crisps, and Wild Garden sundried tomato hummus to top the crackers (its also great with celery).
